Kanye West Arrested!

Kanye West has taken to his blog to address his arrest early Friday morning in the U.K. for allegedly assaulting a paparazzo.

You could tell he's pissed, cuz he's speaking in all caps!

Says Kanye:

"WHO'S WINNING, ME OR THE MEDIA?
REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH LIGHT I PUT OUT, THERE ARE PEOPLE WORKING JUST AS HARD TO ONLY DELIVER DARKNESS. IF YOU LISTEN TO MY MUSIC, HOW COULD I DELIVER SO MANY POSITIVE UPLIFTING MESSAGES AND BE THE MONSTER THAT THE MEDIA PAINTS. PAPARAZZI GIVE REAL PHOTOGRAPHERS A BAD NAME. A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS, THEIRS ARE WORTH A THOUSAND DOLLARS…

LET US NOT FORGET THE PAPS KILLED PRINCESS DIANA. WHEN WILL THERE BE A LAW PASSED THAT SIMPLY ENFORCES THAT SOMEONE HAS TO ASK TO TAKE A PHOTOGRAPH OF YOU. THAT WOULD SEEM LIKE COMMON COURTESY. RIGHT NOW THE PAPS ARE ABOVE THE LAW AND THE PEOPLE THEY SHOOT ARE BELOW IT. WHAT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL IS PICTURES TAKEN WITH THE INTENT TO SELL….LIKE DRUGS WITH THE INTENT TO SELL… OR CROSSING CUSTOMS WITH ENOUGH MERCHANDISE TO HAVE THE INTENT TO SELL. THE EXPLOITATION OF MY IMAGE IS THE PROBLEM. IT PRODUCES A "BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY" BEHAVIOR THAT CAUSE THE PAPS TO DRIVE RECKLESSLY ON FREEWAYS, JUMP OVER FENCES AND INVADE PRIVACY ALL IN AN EFFORT TO GET THAT "MONEY SHOT." YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SELL A PICTURE OF ME WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. AFTER THIS LAW IS PASSED, WHEN YOU ENTER A PUBLIC PLACE LIKE A BASKETBALL ARENA ETC., THERE WILL BE A SIGN THAT READS…"ALL PHOTOS TAKEN HERE ARE PUBLIC DOMAIN AND CAN BE USED AT THE PHOTOGRAPHERS DISCRETION." OBVIOUSLY RED CARPET EVENTS WHERE PEOPLE SHOW UP TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED WILL ALSO APPLY. THE PERSONAL PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THE PAPS IS WHEN THEY TRY TO CATCH YOU BEING A REGULAR PERSON. I AM NOT A CELEBRITY. I'M A NORMAL PERSON THAT'S JUST FAMOUS. I REFUSE TO SNEAK IN AND OUT OF BACK DOORS AND KITCHENS OF HOTELS ETC….

I AM PROTECTING MY PERSONAL SPACE SINCE THERE ARE NO LAWS TO PROTECT THAT FOR ME.

I PUT MY HAND UP TO THE CAMERA IN SELF DEFENSE!

HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED…WHEN I LEFT THE CLUB, I WAS ENCOUNTERED BY A THIRSTY PAPARAZZI AS USUAL. HE FELT HE HAD MORE RIGHTS TO MY SPACE THAN ME, SO I PUT MY HAND UP TO PREVENT HIM FROM TAKING MY IMAGE. I DIDN'T ASSAULT HIM BUT MERELY PUTTING MY HAND UP TO COVER HIS LENS. MY SECURITY YELLED, "GET THE CAMERA OFF HIM." I GUESS IN ALL THE COMMOTION THE CAMERA SCRAPED HIS NOSE.

THREE HOURS LATER I GET A KNOCK AT MY HOTEL DOOR. THERE WERE FIVE POLICE OFFICERS IN FRONT OF MY ROOM AND I HAD NO IDEA WHY. I HAD MY SECURITY GO SPEAK WITH THEM. THE COPS WERE VERY CORDIAL BUT TOLD ME THEY HAD TO ARREST ME BECAUSE A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THAT WAS THE BOGUS PART. THEY PLACED ME IN HANDCUFFS AND DROVE ME TO THE STATION. THEY SPOKE ABOUT HOW THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY A PUBLICITY STUNT BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER BUT THEY STILL HAD TO GO THOUGH THE MOTIONS. WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE HOTEL THERE WERE PAPARAZZI HANGING OVER THE BRIDGE ABOVE THE HOTEL TRYING TO GET A SHOT OF ME GETTING OUT THE POLICE VAN. EVEN THOUGH I WASN'T CHARGED, THE DAMAGE WAS DONE. SURE ENOUGH THE NEXT MORNING, PLASTERED ACROSS EVERY MEDIA OUTLET… KANYE GETS ARRESTED. IT DIDN'T MATTER THAT I WASN'T CHARGED OR THE FACT THAT I HADN'T ASSAULTED ANYONE. ALL THAT MATTERED WAS THAT I WAS ARRESTED.

SIDEBAR, THEY QUOTED ME AS SAYING…"GET THE CAMERA OFF HIM!" LIKE I WAS TALKING IN THIRD PERSON. HE TRIED TO MAKE ME SOUND LIKE A CRAZY PERSON AND PEOPLE BELIEVED HIM. WHAT MERIT DOES THIS GUY HAVE THAT HE CAN SAY SOMETHING ABOUT ME AND PEOPLE TAKE IT AS LAW? THE FACT THAT HE COULD GET ME ARRESTED OFF A MERE COMPLAINT BUT I CAN'T ASK HIM TO STOP TAKING PICTURES OF ME IS VERY LOPSIDED.

WHO'S WINNING, ME OR THE MEDIA?"

ATL is the new hub for dope!? Mexicans are providing more than TACO Bell

Mexican drug cartels set up shop in Atlanta
‘New Southwest border’ attracts narcotics trade
By BILL TORPY

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Sunday, October 12, 2008

When U.S. law enforcement officials last month busted a Mexican drug cartel moving tons of dope and millions of dollars, they announced it in Atlanta.

The distribution ring stretched from Colombia to New York to Italy, but the operation’s key hub was Atlanta. Long a commerce and transportation center for giants like UPS and Delta Air Lines, Atlanta tags itself as an “international city.” This time, it embodied that definition in an illicit way.

Federal drug agent Jack Killorin calls Atlanta “the new Southwest border.”

“All the things that make this area attractive to perfectly legitimate businesses make it attractive to drug smugglers: transportation, good communications, population, even good climate,” said Killorin, who heads the Atlanta high-intensity drug trafficking area task force, or HIDTA. “It’s a city with deep attachments to other areas. It has population connections to other cities. It has social connections.”

Mexican distribution rings supply about 90 percent of the cocaine, 80 percent of the methamphetamine and half of the marijuana used in the United States, estimates Rodney G. Benson, the agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration office in Atlanta. A huge proportion of the payload headed for the Atlantic seaboard, the Southeast and the Midwest flows through Atlanta’s interstates, a federal report said this year.

The transformation of narcotics trafficking to the Mexican networks started shifting in the 1990s. Experts say it’s a combination of population shifts, supply chain improvements, product development, criminal outsourcing, even the North American Free Trade Agreement.

“Drug distribution is capitalism at its most basic form,” said Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter. “[Mexican rings] delivered a better product — better, cheaper, faster. Americans just got pushed out of the market.”

Porter was first elected in 1992, when the cocaine trade was run by a consortium of Cubans, Colombians and locals.

“If you put a starting date [on the Mexican involvement], it’s the explosion in the Latin community since the [1996 Atlanta] Olympics,” he said.

Gwinnett’s Hispanic population is approaching 20 percent. This has allowed traffickers to follow the population flow, giving them a measure of comfort in the community and an ability to hide in plain sight, he said.

The shift of the narcotics trade to Mexican cartels, which had for years supplied marijuana to the United States, came in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Cocaine had come from Colombia to Florida by boat or was flown in to small airfields in the southern United States. In fact, one of the first big drug cases Porter encountered as district attorney was a group of Cubans living in rural Gwinnett who frequently traveled to Florida to retrieve hundreds of kilos of cocaine coming in by boat.

But increased interdiction of the Colombian-Cuban delivery routes and the opening of the United States’ border to trade handed the Mexicans an opportunity.

“The Colombians realized they could hire them out [to transport drugs] and reduce the risk,” said Jim Martin, a federal prosecutor in Atlanta who has handled drug cases for nearly 30 years.

The networks have honed their distribution machinery. One transport team hands a shipment to another, with each crew knowing little or nothing about the next. This isolation lessens the chance of a disruption to the rest of the chain if there is a bust.

Extracting information after an arrest is a chore. “Developing a cooperation within the Mexican organization is an obstacle not as easily overcome as with other ethnic groups,” Martin said. Part of it is a code of honor not to talk, he said. But more is fear of retaliation to their families back home.

“They’re more difficult to infiltrate,” said Terry Pelfrey, who supervises GBI drug agents in North Georgia. “As the Hispanics moved in, some bad apples moved in with them. But with so many illegal immigrants, it’s harder to know who is who.”

Adelina Nicholls, executive director of the Georgia Latin Alliance for Human Rights, said: “It is not a representative behavior of that community at large.”

She said guns and the money that finances drug crimes in Mexico are supplied by American consumption. “It works both ways.”

Martin said the distributors will work with Americans, bringing into Atlanta shipments in the hundreds of kilograms and then breaking them down to 30- to 50-kilo lots before sending them elsewhere. But increasingly, the Mexican cartels want to keep the business in the family and are expanding to control a layer or two of distribution under the wholesalers’ level.

Benson of the DEA spoke of the operations like Fortune 500 organizations. “The shipment in Atlanta gets turned over to a regional coordinator who then oversees the movement of that product to their established customer base,” he said. “They have those mapping what’s going in and what’s going out.”

There are money counters, book balancers and workers heat-sealing blocks of cash in plastic wrapping to prevent pilfering. Then the cash is smuggled back to Mexico.

The cartels seized an opportunity in the late 1990s with meth, shipping huge batches to America.

Scores of labs operated here in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Pelfrey said, but the number dropped after 2005 when Georgia limited the sale of cold remedies used to make meth.

In January 2005, authorities confiscated 125 pounds in DeKalb County. It was said to be the largest bust ever on the East Coast. In March 2005, they got 174 pounds of crystal meth in Gwinnett. In August 2006, a bust in Gwinnett yielded 187 pounds. A week later, another bust in Gwinnett doubled that.

Authorities say recent busts in the region coupled with increased enforcement in Mexico have caused a shrinking supply and spiked the kilo price of cocaine to above $25,000 in Atlanta.

A Justice Department analysis in June detailed those successes but added, “Mexican trafficking organizations will quite likely become further entrenched” in Atlanta.

Can't we all leave Pacman alone....

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was involved in a fight with one of his bodyguards, according to Dallas police, the night before attending a previously scheduled team meeting with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. No one was arrested and no one will be charged in connection with the fight late Tuesday night at The Joule, an upscale downtown hotel. Jones missed all of last season for Tennessee while serving an NFL suspension for off-field incidents. Goodell fully reinstated the cornerback, acquired by Dallas in a trade in April, just before the season opener. “Someone from the business called police,” Dallas police spokesman Cpl. Jerry Monreal told The Associated Press. “Police arrived and spoke to the parties after they had a verbal argument. Both parties agreed to leave, and they left.” The incident report lists no names, and Monreal said he did not know if Jones was involved in the fight, which was first reported by Dallas-Fort Worth TV station KTVT. But the details of the incident and Jones’ involvement were confirmed to The Dallas Morning News by Deputy Chief Vince Golbeck, who is a commander of the central patrol division, which responded to the call. Golbeck was not in the police station Wednesday night, and a dispatcher at the central patrol division declined to comment.

Man shot for wearing Obama T-Shirt in London

A man told today how he was shot three times in a London street for wearing a Barack Obama T-shirt.
Dube Egwuatu was buying a mobile telephone top-up card in an off-licence when the gunman confronted him and glared at the top, which carries an image of the Democrat US presidential candidate underneath the legend 'Believe'.
The man then launched into a tirade of racist slurs, shouting 'I f***ing hate n*****s' and urging 36-year-old Mr Egwuatu to leave the shop with him.
Respect: Dube Egwuatu wearing the Obama T-shirt that provoked a racist attack

The man then left the shop but when Mr Egwuatu re-emerged, the attacker was waiting for him in broad daylight with a threatening-looking dog and holding a gun behind his back.
Realising what had sparked the increasingly violent assault, the terrified Mr Egwuatu zipped up his jacket to cover the image of Mr Obama and walked to his car.
But the shaven-headed man, who was white, followed Mr Egwuatu and after pulling open the passenger door pointed the gun at him.
After pleading with the man to leave him alone, the married former street warden put the keys in the ignition and turned the engine on.
The attacker then fired the gas-powered ball-bearing pistol three times, hitting the civil servant in the face, hand and shoulder.
Fearing for his life and bleeding heavily, Mr Egwuatu raced away in his car and found somewhere safe to call for help.
He was taken to hospital and later sent to have a piece of metal removed from his jaw.
Mr Egwuatu, a data analyst with Croydon Council, said: 'The venom in his voice was frightening.
'He was telling me that he was going to kill me.
'I couldn't believe it was happening - and just because I was wearing an Obama T-shirt. He was trying to make me walk somewhere quieter, saying: 'I've got something for you,' and 'I'm going to kill you.'
He added: 'Obama inspires me, his educational track record alone is quite unbelievable - that is why I was wearing the T-shirt.
'I did not think for one minute it could stir up such powerful feelings of hatred and I never said a word to him.'
Mr Egwuatu's wife, Angela, 35, said neither of them had experienced anything like it during their childhood in Nigeria.
Mrs Egwuatu, an immigration officer, said: 'At first my feelings were pure horror and now it is pure anger.
'If he had been carrying a real gun I would have been a widow. It is just ridiculous.
'I don't know how a person's mentality works. Why would a T-shirt get you to the point where you want to shoot someone.'
To the untrained eye, ball-bearing guns like the one used in the attack look every bit like a real firearm.
The potentially lethal weapons are often converted by criminals to fire real bullets, and can be bought easily in high-street shops and on websites.
The Met said it was investigating the incident, which took place in South Norwood, and that police searched a nearby house which the attacker was seen going into.

No one has been arrested.

Dwayne can't you wait until the ink dries?

Source http://globalgrind.com/content/153851/YBF-Exclusive-Dwyane-Wade-Gabrielle-Union-Make-It-Official

- Well ain’t this some ish. Realtor sources in Miami tell TheYBF.com that Gabrielle Union has indeed moved in with Heat baller Dwyane Wade. The two have been in a rumored relationship for a while now, but since his divorce isn’t final, they had to keep it on the hush as much as possible. But of course, we here at TheYBF.com have been reporting for over a year about their relationship and their sneaky ways of spending time together. We’re told that Dwyane bought a new condo pretty recently (he actually bought up 4 condo units next to each other to make one gigantic place) in light of his and his wife Siovaughn’s separation. He’s since semi-confirmed the split from his wife. And Miami realtor sources tell us that Gabby has definitely moved in with Mr. Wade at his new place while said realtor searches for a new condo for Gabby to lease. So it looks like Ms. Union is moving to the MIA. Hot damn! More on this when you read the rest… Interestingly enough, NBA.com reported that Gabby was kickin’ it second row at the Heat vs. Pistons game a few nights ago in Miami. And our sources in Miami’s entertainment business inner circle tell TheYBF.com that they are both bringing their relationship more and more public as the days pass by. They go to tons of party in Miami together, are spotted out eating together all the time, and they are even set to host a party together in the coming weeks. The details are being worked out as we speak, but the couple is of course a bit hesitant to make things extra public. Especially since no ink has hit the Wades’ official divorce papers yet. Gabby all your movie roles define you!

A new battle over "SWAG"?

WHO CARES.... NEW ARGUMENT OVER SWAG

Posted October 7, 2008- Jim Jones wants his swagger back and he wants it now. In a recent interview with Complex Magazine, Jones openly stated his displeasure about the paricipants on T.I.’s, "Swagger Like Us" track, a song deriving from T.I.’s fifth solo lp, Paper Trail. With the exception of Lil Wayne, the Dipset head honcho explained none of the participants possessed any swagger and particularly took aim at T.I.. Jones told the magazine, “I don’t feel like he possesses any swag. Not like that. It’s fabricated. They’re watching other people, and then they try and do it. You know people that dress like T.I.? You know people that go out and say let me get a T.I. outfit or do you know people who say “yo, you’re looking like Jim Jones?” Which one? Lemme hear it!”

Of course, word trickled through the industry grapevine and eventually landed in the lap of the southern king. On the set for his new video, “Live Your Life” featuring Rihanna, radio personality, Clinton Sparks, caught up with T.I., who was unaware of the swagger turmoil, and asked his thoughts on Jimmy’s boisterous opinion.” Well you know what, it’s funny that either one of you should mention that because my clothing line, Akoo will be hitting stores in November and there will be quite a few people looking for it,” said T.I. with a devilish smirk.

Obviously undaunted by the Jimmy’s attempt to bait a competitive response from him, T.I. continued, “I ain’t tripping on that; it’s just talk and entertainment to me. Sparks then posed the question if TI ran into Jones in public, what would happen between the two and again, T.I. brushed off any speculation of any type of confrontation explaining, “As far as I know, I have no reason to perpetuate any negativity; that’s negative, you know what I’m saying? To me, that’s what people do when they want attention; to me, that’s just my personal opinion from the outside looking in. I haven’t scratched the surface to se what really lies beneath, as far as entertainment is concerned.”

T.I.’s, Paper Trail, which hit shelves September 30, landed at #1 on the Billboard 200 album

So Bands are hazing now..... WOWOWOWOWOW

Wisconsin band suspended for hazing
The Associated Press

Friday, October 03, 2008

Madison, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin marching band has been suspended indefinitely while allegations of hazing, alcohol abuse and sexual misconduct are investigated.

The band won’t play Saturday during a nationally televised football game between the No. 18 Badgers and No. 14 Ohio State at Camp Randall Stadium.

The university made the announcement at a hastily called news conference Friday night, saying the behavior is consistent with conduct that put the band on probation in 2006.

Mike Leckrone, band director since 1969, said he made the decision and it was the first time in his tenure the entire band has ever been suspended and prevented from playing at a game.

Leckrone said he informed the 300 band members at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

“My feeling was I hit them between the eyes with a sledgehammer,” he said.

No details were immediately released about the behavior, only that it involved inappropriate alcohol use, hazing and sexualized behavior. Leckrone said it involved only a small number of band members, but it was significant enough to warrant the suspension.

He and Dean of Students Lori Berquam refused to discuss any details while the investigation by Berquam’s office is ongoing.

The band will practice again starting Tuesday with the understanding that it will not perform again until the investigation is done, Leckrone said.

Penalties for students who violate the university’s code of conduct range from a reprimand to expulsion, Berquam said.

It’s the latest in a series of high profile problems for the band.

In 2000 the university established a written code of conduct for the band.

In February 2007 the marching band’s assistant director Michael Lorenz resigned after an internal report criticized his treatment of a female colleague during a rowdy band trip to Michigan in 2006.

Reports of band members’ hazing, alcohol use and inappropriate sexual behavior prompted the university to put the band on probation after the trip.

Then-Chancellor John Wiley threatened band members with losing performance and travel privileges.

Wiley, in an October 2006 letter to Leckrone, called band members’ behavior “boorish to patently dangerous and unlawful.”

At that time, seminude band members were alleged to have danced suggestively and there were reports of women being forced to kiss other women to be allowed to enter bathrooms on a bus.

The university said in a statement that the latest allegations were consistent with the 2006 troublesome behavior.

The award-winning band has a storied tradition on campus and a special place in the hearts of Badgers fans.

Leckrone said he believed the latest allegations breached the band’s code of conduct and warranted a swift and significant response.

“I don’t think it would be appropriate for me just to ignore it,” he said.

With the financial crisis weighing on everyone's minds, many debate whether our government's economic policies cater to the rich over the poor.

But a new study finds it would be impossible to serve only one socioeconomic group, because people's preferences tend to be overwhelmingly similar when it comes to how the federal government should spend its money.

"Even if government wanted to respond only to the interests of the rich, it couldn't, because the rich and the poor tend to share similar political viewpoints - at least on economic issues," said North Carolina State University political science researcher Chris Ellis.

Ellis and Joseph Ura, an assistant professor of political science at Texas A&M University, analyzed data from the General Social Survey on public opinion of government spending from 1973 to 2006. They found that, overall, the country would sway from being more fiscally conservative to more liberal, but that these trends occurred across all socioeconomics groups. In general, both rich and poor responded to changes in the nation's economic health, or the actions of the federal government, in broadly similar ways.

For example, the public's views of how the federal government should spend money on education, health care and the environment are similar regardless of socioeconomic level. Social issues, such as abortion, were not considered in the study.

The researchers concluded that the federal government acts on the desires of all income groups either because it can't tell the difference between the preferences of the rich versus the poor, or because politicians wish to serve the public as a whole. The study was detailed in the Oct. 3 issue of the journal Political Science and Politics.

"This does not mean that the government is actually acting in the best interests of the poor, only that what the poor want is similar to what the rich want in terms of how the government appropriates its funds," Ellis said.

Tragic Flights

Music's Most Fateful Flights
Posted Tue Sep 23, 2008 12:07pm PDT by Billy Altman in Stop The Presses!
News of the plane crash over the weekend that killed four people and severely injured former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and noted turntablist Adam Goldstein (aka DJ AM) serves as yet another sobering reminder that in the ever-unpredictable world of celebrity culture, fate can and often does play a significant hand.

This seems especially true when it comes to pop music, which over the decades has seen its fair share of unfortunate life-ending events specifically related to air travel. Some of the most famous have occurred "in the line of duty"--on the way to or from concerts, personal appearances, photo/video shoots, etc.--a fact that not only has magnified the tragedies for fans but also has frozen in time the lives of these stars inside our collective memory banks.

For example, in just a few months--February 3, 1959, to be exact--it'll be the 50 th anniversary of what's generally considered the most well-known of all music-associated plane crashes: the Clear Lake Iowa accident that took the lives of rock and rollers Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and "Big Bopper" J.P. Richardson. Holly was only 22 and Valens hadn't even turned 18 when they perished, and as Don McLean so aptly put it in his song "American Pie," for anyone who grew up during rock's Golden Age, it would always feel like "The Day The Music Died."

Meanwhile, country music fans often point to the March 1963 Tennessee plane crash that took away superstar Patsy Cline along with fellow performers Lloyd "Cowboy" Copas and Harold "Hawkshaw" Hawkins as their own era-stamping equivalent. And soul music fans, not to mention music fans in general, all mourned the loss of Otis Redding (and four members of his backing group the Bar-Kays) after their plane went down near Madison Wisconsin on December 10, 1967--ironically, mere days after Redding had recorded what would be his classic posthumous hit, "Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay."

Sometimes a plane crash can carry added symbolism. When Swing Era bandleader Glenn Miller's plane disappeared on the way to Paris for a scheduled performance for Allied troops fighting in Europe in mid-December 1944, his death became a powerful emblem of American patriotism during World War II. And when Southern rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd's Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steven Gaines and backing vocalist Cassie Gaines lost their lives in October 1977 in a crash near Gillsburg Mississippi, it seemed that perhaps the band had had premonitions: their latest album Street Survivors had just been released featuring an original cover (later changed) that depicted the group standing in flames, and was eerily highlighted by a song about death called "That Smell."

As evidenced by the likes of singer-songwriters Jim Croce (1973) and John Denver (1997), former teen idol Ricky Nelson (1985), hard rock guitarist Randy Rhoads (1982), bluesman Stevie Ray Vaughan (1990), and R&B vocalist Aaliyah (2001), musician-associated plane crash deaths cut across all styles and genres. Thankfully, the names of Travis Barker and DJ AM did not have to be added to this fateful list.

Jury awards millionaire's mistress $4.5 million

Jury awards millionaire's mistress $4.5 million

By TOM OPDYKE
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Published on: 07/23/08

The mistress of a millionaire car dealer was awarded about $4.5 million from his estate by a Cobb County jury on Wednesday.

Anne Melican, who hooked up with Harvey Strother eight years before his death, had been seeking about $6 million that Strother gave her in three changes to his will. His estate is worth an estimated $38 million. Strother's family contended the changes were invalid because he spent his last years in a drunken haze and was influenced by Melican.

The jury found in Melican's favor on two of the three changes, but sided with Strother's family and executor on the third change, one that would have given Melican clear ownership of two more properties and a yacht slip on Marco Island, Fla.

"I'm grateful, but I don't have anything else to say," the 60-year-old elementary psychologist said following the verdict.

Both sides said they will appeal portions of the verdict, and the appeals must be resolved before the will can be probated.

The seven women and five men on the jury heard seven days of testimony. Based on their verdict, Melican stands to get a monthly allowance of $7,900 retroactive to Strother's congestive heart failure death on Jan. 7, 2004.

In addition, she would receive the value of a Marco Island condominium Strother owned, but was sold after his death. Her lawyer, Doug Salyers, said it sold for $1.36 million. She also would receive lifetime health coverage

Relationship Tips!!!!

Red Flags That You're Headed for a Breakup

61% of users found this article helpful.
Post a Comment View All 324 Comments When it comes to breaking up, hindsight is 20/20. But wouldn't it be nice if you could tell that you and your partner were headed for a falling out before it happened?

Fortunately, you can predict a break up. And with just a little bit of tweaking, you can get back on track and rescue your relationship before it hits the rocks.

Red Flag #1: Tuning Out
One of the most common reasons relationships fail is because one or both partners is tuning out. It might sound minor, but in actuality, few things are more hurtful than being ignored by your loved one, whether that is accompanied by emotional neglect or physical distance.

The Cure: Take Down the Wall
Tuning back in is easy. All you have to do is agree to listen to your partner's feedback and dedicate time and emotion to the relationship again. Start taking down the emotional wall, brick by brick. Look at your partner in the eye when he or she speaks (even if it is not what you want to hear), make physical contact daily (even if it is just holding hands), and re-commit to the relationship.

Red Flag #2: Fighting Fire with Fire
Couples who fight fire with fire can expect a relationship that is constantly up in flames. Name-calling, sarcasm, criticism, and violence (from throwing things, slamming doors, to actual physical abuse) result in emotional wounds that are hard to heal and relationships that are hard to rescue.

The Cure: Pour Water on the Flames
The next time you feel anger guiding you to say, or do, things you might regret, take time to cool off. If that's not possible, try framing your complaints as requests. For instance instead of, "Why did you forget our date?," you could say, "I feel sad that you forgot our date. How can we make sure this doesn't happen again?" If your partner is the one who is fanning the flames, don't engage in the vicious cycle of insults and tantrums. You can't fight fire with fire if the other person won't engage in the flame-throwing.

Red Flag #3: Refusing to Own Up
No one is perfect, so why is it that some of us refuse to take responsibility in our most important relationships? Passing the buck and playing the victim are surefire ways to put a relationship in jeopardy.

The Cure: Take Responsibility for Your Actions
The next time you forget an anniversary, or say something hurtful to your spouse, don't try to pass the buck and refuse to take responsibility. Instead, admit where you went wrong and try harder next time. Sounds simple... but it can save your relationship.

By making simple changes to the way you and your partner communicate, you can keep your relationship intact. All couples fight and argue, but it is how you fight and argue that determines whether your love can weather the storm.

Man is a urine examiner.....

This is Alan Patton, Urine Connoisseur:

Police charged a northwest Columbus man with criminal mischief for allegedly planning to collect young boys’ urine and drink it. Alan Patton was recently spotted in restrooms at Sports Ohio two weeks ago. According to a police report, Patton, 56, the female employee recognized him as the same man she saw the previous week “putting Saran Wrap on toilets and cups in urinals.”

The employee called police and found Patton walking out of a restroom stall with a black duffle bag.

In 1994, Patton pleaded guilty to a charge of gross sexual imposition against an 8-year-old boy. He served four years in prison and was labeled a sex offender. Then, in 2006, Patton was caught at a Gahanna movie theater and was accused of watching little boys urinate. Police said that Patton admitted to collecting boys’ urine and even paid them for it. Patton was charged with voyeurism.

Police said that Patton would turn the water to the urinals off, place a cup inside and then collect the urine after a boy went to the bathroom.

Idol Ruben Studdard Obtains Marriage License

Second-season American Idol champ Ruben Studdard obtained a marriage license Monday in Alabama, PEOPLE has learned.

Studdard, 29, arrived at the Shelby County Probate Office in Birmingham with fiancée Surata Zuri McCants, 30, just before noon, filled out the paperwork and walked away with their license, an eyewitness says. Studdard is a Birmingham native.

"They looked really happy," says the eyewitness.

There was no immediate word on when they planned to marry. An Alabama marriage license is valid for 30 days.

The Paper Bag Test.........

The paper bag test

Each year, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission receives about 85,000 discrimination cases, a phenomenon to be expected in a society that touts itself as a "melting pot."
Many of these cases involve the complaints of minority groups against majority groups. We rarely expect a member of a minority group to discriminate against someone else in the same group. But that is exactly what happens among African-Americans.

More than any other minority group in the United States, blacks discriminate against one another. The discrimination, called "colorism," is based on skin tone: whether a person is dark-skinned or light-skinned or in the broad middle somewhere.

Most African-Americans refuse to discuss this self-destructive problem even in private. According to the EEOC, though, the number of such cases are steadily increasing, jumping from 413 in fiscal year 1994 to 1,382 in 2002, a figure that represents about 3 percent of all cases the agency receives yearly.

The most recent case making news in the black press involves two employees of an Applebee's restaurant in Jonesboro, Ga., near Atlanta. There, Dwight Burch, a dark-skinned waiter, who has left the restaurant, filed a lawsuit against Applebee's and his light-skinned African-American manager.

In the suit, Burch alleged that during his three-month stint, the manager repeatedly referred to him as a "black monkey" and a "t'r baby." The manager also told Burch to bleach his skin, and Burch was fired after he refused to do so, the suit states.

Colorism has a long and ugly history among American blacks, dating back to slavery, when light-skinned blacks were automatically given preferential treatment by plantation owners and their henchmen.

Colorism's history is fascinating: Fair-skinned slaves automatically enjoyed plum jobs in the master's house, if they had to work at all. Many traveled throughout the nation and abroad with their masters and their families. They were exposed to the finer things, and many became educated as a result. Their darker-tone peers toiled in the fields. They were the ones who were beaten, burned and hanged, the ones permanently condemned to be the lowest of the low in U.S. society. For them, even learning - reading, 'riting, 'rithmetic - was illegal.

When slavery ended, light-skinned blacks established social organizations that barred darker ex-slaves. Elite blacks of the early 20th century were fair-skinned almost to the person. Even today, most blacks in high positions have fair skin tones, and most blacks who do menial jobs or are in prison are dark. Believe it or not, popular black magazines, such as Ebony as Essence, prefer light-skinned models in their beauty product ads.

For many years, entrance to special social events operated on the "brown paper bag" principle, which I will explain. Until quite recently, black fraternities and sororities, for example, recruited according to skin tone. Spike Lee's film School Daze satirizes the problem, and Alice Walker's novel The Color Purple makes it a biting subtext.

In his 1996 book The Future of the Race, Henry Louis Gates Jr., chairman of the Afro-American studies department at Harvard, described his encounter with the brown paper bag when he came to Yale in the late 1960s, when skin-tone bias was brazenly practiced: "Some of the brothers who came from New Orleans held a "bag party.' As a classmate explained it to me, a bag party was a New Orleans custom wherein a brown paper bag was stuck on the door.

"Anyone darker than the bag was denied entrance. That was one cultural legacy that would be put to rest in a hurry - we all made sure of that. But in a manner of speaking, it was replaced by an opposite test whereby those who were deemed "not black enough' ideologically were to be shunned. I was not sure this was an improvement."

Gates was overly optimistic. The brown paper bag test remains in black culture in various incarnations, as the Applebee's case and the EEOC's statistics confirm. We separate ourselves by skin tone almost as much as we ever did. If, say, you check out the "desired" female beauties in rap videos, you will find redbones galore.

Back to the Applebee's case. A spokesman for the chain issued this statement: "No one should have to put up with mean and humiliating comments about the color of their skin on the job. . . . It makes no difference that these comments are made by someone of your own race. Actually, that makes it even worse." Although the chain denied the allegations, it paid Burch $40,000 to settle the suit.

Now for the irony of ironies: Applebee's has added a protection, along with cultural sensitivity training, against skin-tone discrimination to its antidiscrimination policies.

In other words, the company must protect African-Americans from other African-Americans.

Discrimination from whites and other groups remains a big problem for blacks. But colorism is just as serious, if not more so. Colorism saps our strength from the inside. It weakens our power and ability to fight the outside forces that keep us marginalized in larger society.

Yesterday is in the tomb of the past. Today is in the womb of the present. And what you are currently pregnant with is what you will bear in the future! In lieu of focusing on what should have occured , what would have occured, might have occured, or was shift your focus on what God says will be. Wherever your focus is it will become the strongest aspect in your life.
It is confirmed in the book of Josh. 1:8 "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."

Faith
Current mood: fabulous
Category: Religion and Philosophy

I found something that I wrote for my Freshman Honors English course at ASU....

Faith, the Provider

Faith is not belief without proof but trust without reservation. Faith is many things. Faith is an expression of the human soul. Faith is determination . It is not failure. Faith feeds, fosters, and fuels the soul. It is the working of the soul. Faith feeds the hungry, houses the homeless, cares for the ill, and comforts the emoitionally disturbed. Faith provides the willpower to do what is right. It is the striving to develop oneself, character, emotions, and mind. It allows one to know oneself and to be truthful. Faith cannot be defined, for it is a concept that can only be developed with one's inner being: awareness of unconscious acts of faith and active; and conscious expression of faith.

According to the American Heritage dictionary, faith is a confident belief or trust in an idea, thing, or person. According to Webster's New World dictionary, faith is an unquestioning belief that does not require proof of evidence. Faith is derived from Middle English "feith", from Old English "fei" from Latin, "fides" and is akin to Latin "fidere," which means to trust. People act on faith unconsciously. However, faith is also active and conscious. Faith rescues the soul when all beliefs falter. For instance, a mother loses her child and thinks the world has to come to the end. As a result, she gets in the highest position, on her knees, and prays. Faith is a stimulator. It stimulates one to continue after failure. Faith never fails; it is the object of faith that falters. Faith continues to work and if one is true to one self, the process of faith will prevail. " If ye may have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you (Matthew 17:20)

Controversial radio host injects race into show again

Published on: 06/23/08

NEW YORK (AP) — Don Imus has once again injected race into his radio show.

During an on-air conversation Monday about the arrests of suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, Imus asked, "What color is he?"

Radio personality Don Imus

Told by sports announcer Warner Wolf that Jones is "African-American," Imus responded: "There you go. Now we know."

Civil rights leader Al Sharpton issued a statement calling the exchange disturbing "because it plays into stereotypes." He says his National Action Network was still deciding how to respond.

Imus was fired from his previous show last year after he made a racially charged comment about the Rutgers women's basketball team.

Representatives for Imus and WABC Radio haven't returned calls.

Restaurant owner accused of selling drugs with oysters

Published on: 06/12/08

Charlie's Original Oyster King on South Main Street in Acworth serves up hot dogs, sandwiches and oysters made all kinds of ways.

But Acworth police say long-time owner Charles Lanzo was also serving up drugs and moonshine. He had some weapons on the side.

Cobb County Sheriff's Office
Acworth police arrested Charles Lanzo, a long-time restaurant owner (above), and his wife, Frances, on drug charges.

Lanzo and his wife, Frances, were arrested Tuesday after an undercover investigation that lasted several months, said Police Chief Michael Wilkie

Frances Lanzo was charged with illegal possession of drugs. When she was arrested police found five Alprazolam pills on her. The prescription drug is sold as Xanax and is used to treat depression.

Charles Lanzo was charged with felony possession of Ecstasy and Oxycontin and felony intent to distribute marijuana and cocaine. He was also charged with felony weapons possession.

Lanzo was charged with possession of non-taxed distilled spirits, a misdemeanor, for the 10 mason jars of moonshine found at the restaurant.

"It appears that Mr. Lanzo was selling a little bit of everything in addition to his oysters," Wilkie said. "We've heard complaints about this for quite some time, and we were finally able to successfully make a case against him."

When police raided the restaurant, they found 2.5 pounds of marijuana. Acworth Detective Mark Cheatham said the marijuana is worth about $1,500.

Police also found one "small teal green pill" of Ecstasy, 7 grams of cocaine, and several Oxycontin pills, according to the arrest warrant. Police also seized $16,000.

Two rifles, a Remington Model 700 .308 and Marlin 30-30 carbine lever-action, and two Smith and Wesson semi automatic handguns, a 9 mm and 22 caliber, were found in a bedroom located inside the restaurant.

The couple were released on bond.

"I was at a meeting the other night, and a long-term resident in Acworth made the comment to me that they always wondered how he was able to stay in business so long with so few cars ever parked out there," Wilkie said. "Now, we know the secret, I suppose."

According to the restaurant's Web site, Lanzo and his wife have operated the Oyster King for 15 years.

Acworth Mayor Tommy Allegood, who has lived in the city for about 12 years, said he doesn't know the owners.

"He's not a member of the Acworth Business Association," Allegood said.

The restaurant is open for business. A man who answered the phone Thursday and said he was Lanzo declined to comment.

The Web site tripadvisor.com has one review of the restaurant posted.

The review, dated Feb 10,, says "The oysters were fantastic, although scraped off the bottom of Allatoona, you have to get past that."

2 women killed, children flee in DeKalb

Husband of one victim under arrest

By CHRISTIAN BOONE, CHRIS REINOLDS

Published on: 06/22/08

Police have arrested the husband of one of the two women who were shot to death early Sunday in a DeKalb County home.

Demetrius Russell, 34, was picked up by investigators around 1 p.m. Sunday on Moreland Avenue in DeKalb, said Mekka Parish, a DeKalb police spokeswoman.

By early evening, police had charged him with two counts of murder, though his motive remains unclear.

Russell was separated from Victoria Renfroe, 24, Parish said. She was living at the home on Eastwood Drive, where the slayings occurred, with Andrea Smith, 27.

The women had each been shot multiple times in the torso, Parish said. The spokeswoman could not confirm if any of Renfroe's three children were fathered by Russell.

The Renfroe offspring and Smith's three children were in the Eastwood Drive house at the time of the shootings. The six youngsters fled to neighbors homes. It was not known if any of the children — ranging in age from infancy to 11 years old — helped identify their mother's alleged killer.

They are now staying with relatives, Parish said. She said police had been called to the home in the past for domestic disputes.

Neighbors said the three-bedroom house with tan siding and wood shingles had recently been renovated, and the women hadn't lived there long.

The home was bought in February by G2M Properties Inc., according to DeKalb County tax records. No one answered the phone Sunday at G2M's office in Atlanta.

AMY WINEHOUSE.... WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO HER?????? SAY NO TO DRUGS...

EVIDENTLY, THEY DID NOT HAVE RED RIBBON WEEK... AT HER SCHOOL ... "KIDS SAY NO TO DRUGS"

Doctors believed Amy Winehouse was suffering from tuberculosis after she fainted in her home on Monday, but it turns out she's just got a really bad chest infection and also an irregular heartbeat. Hmm, I wonder what could've caused these things. If only there was some clear cut, bright as day answer to why Amy Winehouse's body is a walking unwrapped mummy of disease... Puzzling. The Daily Mail reports:

A close friend said: "Doctors are still struggling to control her heartbeat but the chest condition has been really worrying them. She'd been suffering horrible coughing fits and hurling up blood for a while but refused to be examined. Doctors are doing more tests to be certain. The last thing she needs is to be wheeled on stage. She needs a rest."
This just in: Doctors have removed a Colombian drug mule from Amy's left ventricle. How the donkey got in there will baffle the field of medicine for years to come. Until they figure out she uses really, really big drug needles. I'm talking these things have wheels, driver's seat and passenger side airbags. Did I mention a DVD player for the kids? That too. Celebrities get off with community service..... WOW!!!! Common Folks =Jail Time

Naomi Campbell gets 200 hours for 'air rage'
By GREGORY KATZ

Associated Press Writer

LONDON — Temperamental model Naomi Campbell was sentenced to 200 hours of community service Friday after pleading guilty to assaulting two police officers after an "air rage" incident at Heathrow Airport.

She was also ordered to pay 200 pounds ($400) to each of the police officers she attacked and 150 pounds ($300) to Miles Sutherland, the captain of the British Airways plane she disrupted, in addition to a 2,300 pound ($4,600) fine.

British model Naomi Campbell, centre with head down, arrives at Uxbridge Magistrates Court in London, Friday, June 20, 2008. The sharp-tongued model is accused of assaulting two officers after she was removed from a flight bound from Heathrow Airport's new Terminal 5 to Los Angeles. She stands accused of six different offenses stemming from the incident, which happened after her luggage was removed from the British Airways flight. (AP Photo/Kirsty Wigglesworth)
She could have received six months' jail time and a heavy fine for the six offenses stemming from a violent spat in April with British Airways cabin crew and police who removed her from a flight in handcuffs while waiting on the tarmac at Heathrow.

Prosecutors said Campbell used foul language, kicked and spat at police, accused airline personnel of racism and threatened to sue them after she was told that one of her bags had not been placed on the flight to Los Angeles in April.

Campbell was traveling in first class and became abusive to the captain after he left the cockpit to personally explain to her why her bag — and those of many other travelers — had not been placed on the flight.

Prosecutors said she shouted a number of obscenities and tried to kick the police who were summoned to remove her after she "ordered" Sutherland to delay takeoff and look for her missing piece of luggage.

At one point, the black model accused the airline staff of being racist and said they would not have removed her from the flight if she was white. She told a white policewoman that the only reason she was being arrested was because she was "black and famous" and threatened to sue.

Magistrate Peter Yiacoumi told Campbell that she was getting credit for past good behavior and for pleading guilty at the first hearing, but said the crimes could not go unpunished. Prosecutors said she kicked and spat at police officers, used foul language repeatedly, and had to be removed from the plane.

"These offenses are aggravated because they were committed within a lengthy incident in a confined space on an aircraft," he said. "Whilst we accept that the loss of your suitcase would have been stressful, your subsequent behavior cannot be justified."

After the sentencing, Campbell's spokesman, Alan Edwards, said the catwalk star was "very, very relieved" the incident was over. He said she felt she had been treated fairly and predicted she would work hard during her community service.

The incident happened shortly after the opening of Heathrow's new Terminal 5 building, which did not function properly at first, resulting in many cancellations and lost bags.

Campbell's lawyer said she was upset because the missing bag contained an outfit that she was contractually obligated to wear at an event in Los Angeles.

Campbell, 38, arrived in court Friday morning in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes and was immediately swarmed by paparazzi. She did not make a statement to the court beyond confirming her name and her address, and her lawyer entered a guilty plea.

Her spokesman, Alan Edwards, said outside the court that Campbell regretted the incident and looked forward to telling her side of the story.

In the past, Campbell has been charged with throwing objects at members of her staff.

Last year, she was sentenced to a week of community service spent mopping floors and cleaning bathrooms in New York City after admitting "reckless assault" for throwing a mobile phone at her housekeeper.

Earlier, she had agreed to take an "anger management" course after a similar attack on an employee in Canada. That employee claimed Campbell threw a mobile phone at her and threatened to throw her out of a moving car.

Other staff members have also brought charges and lawsuits against Campbell, one of the most highly paid models in the world.

2 jailed in killing of T.I.'s friend

2 jailed in killing of T.I.'s friend
BY QUAN TRUONG | QTRUONG@ENQUIRER.COM

More than two years after a gunbattle on Seymour Avenue killed one member of an Atlanta rapper’s entourage and injured three others, two local brothers have been arrested and indicted for murder.

Details have finally emerged that patrons at an after-hours party became enraged with rapper Clifford Harris – who goes by the stage name T.I.– and his entourage, and that rage quickly escalated and erupted into violence.

Hosea Thomas, 34, of North College Hill, and Padron Thomas, 40, of East Price Hill, have been charged with murder and felonious assault for the death of Harris’ assistant and childhood friend, Philant Johnson, 26, and the wounding of three others in the entourage.

Harris, a Grammy Award winner, was in town on May 3, 2006 to perform at Bogarts in Corryville. The Thomas brothers were patrons at the rapper’s after-hours party at Club Ritz in Roselawn.

The gunbattle, said Cincinnati Homicide Detective Tim Gormly, erupted after a series of altercations that night between the alleged shooters and Harris’ entourage.

“T.I. and his group were in the VIP area,” Gormly said. “The suspects wanted to get in the VIP area and weren’t allowed to.” At one point, he said, one of the brothers was struck in the head with a bottle.

Shortly after the shooting, several witnesses told The Enquirer that anger also flared when some of those in the rapper’s entourage threw money from the stage. That event may have helped fuel the fire, Gormly said.

“It was just a total accumulation of everything that happened that night,” he said.

When Harris and his entourage left in two vans, they were followed by two SUVs. It wasn’t long before gunfire was exchanged from the moving vehicles on Seymour near I-75, killing Johnson and wounding the others. T.I. was slightly injured by flying glass.

Hosea Thomas, who has a criminal history that includes drug possession and trafficking convictions, was arrested in the 6900 block of Montgomery Road in Silverton and was booked into the Hamilton County Jail Wednesday morning without bond.

Padron Thomas, a listed sex offender, was previously convicted of robbery and rape. He is in the custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service for an unrelated drug case.

The Thomas brothers were each charged with murder and seven counts of felonious assault – one for each person inside the rapper’s vehicles. Hosea Thomas was also charged with having weapons despite a previous conviction and Padron Thomas was also charged with tampering with evidence.

Solving the case wasn’t easy, Gormly said. “We had trouble identifying the suspects due to (the shooting) happening in a moving car and there weren’t a whole lot of witnesses that saw the actual shooting.”

Eventually, little by little, the pieces came together, Gormly said, but even when detectives identified the Thomas brothers, months went by before there was sufficient evidence to charge them.

Since the shooting, Johnson’s family has called frequently looking for answers, Gormly said. Wednesday night, he finally had news that may bring closure to his mourning mother.

“A family that keeps in touch over two years – you know they really care for Philant,” Gormly said. “So yeah, it feels good to give them the news.”

Sex offender wins $57 million lottery jackpot

LANSING, Mich. — The winner of last week's $57 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot is a registered sex offender who also pleaded guilty to two breaking and entering charges in the 1980s.
Fred Topous Jr., 45, was discharged from Michigan Department of Corrections supervision in October 2006.
The Kent City man traveled to Lansing on Tuesday to claim the prize from Friday's drawing in the multistate game. Topous chose to take the prize as a $34 million lump sum payment, before taxes.
Topous said he planned to buy a house, send his children to college and have some fun with his winnings. He said he and his wife work multiple jobs to make ends meet and thought they'd have to work till they died.
"I want to enjoy a little bit of life," Topous told state lottery officials. "We're plain folks. We've struggled all our lives."
According to the Corrections Department's offender profile, Topous pleaded guilty to assault with intent to commit sexual penetration in 1999 and pleaded guilty to breaking and entering charges in 1984 and 1988.
All three offenses occurred in Grand Traverse County. Prosecutor Alan Schneider said Wednesday that he wasn't familiar with the cases.
The Michigan Lottery told Grand Rapids television station WOOD that anyone can play the lottery except those under 18 and those who work for the agency.
"He's had some tough breaks," friend and co-worker Jan Westcott told The Grand Rapids Press. "I know some of his secrets, and he knows some of mine. I'm not going any further."
A telephone message was left with Topous on Wednesday night.

Coming Soon: A Michael Jackson Clothing Line

While we typically aim for a funny introduction to news items, this story makes fun of itself:
Michael Jackson is working on a clothing line.
While it’s unclear just when the singer’s own brand of sequined gloves and surgical masks will hit stores, we can report that he’s working alongside designer Christian Audigier on it.
“It’s still in the developing stages, but it’s going to be big,” an source told Life & Style. “This will be a major comeback for Michael. He’s dedicating a lot of his time and money to this venture.”
We assume the clothing will mostly be available in the young, impressionable children’s section.

Come on, who wouldn’t buy clothing from a man that dresses like this?!?

Britney Spears was on hand as Jamie Lynn Spears welcomed Maddie Briann into the world, as was her fiance / baby daddy, Casey Aldridge.
Since announcing her pregnancy in December, Jamie Lynn has been laying low in the comforts of her hometown of Kentwood, La. She and Casey Aldridge, who got engaged this spring, bought a house in nearby Liberty, Miss.
Over the last few months, Jamie Lynn Spears has kept busy by passing her GED exam, preparing the nursery and attending multiple baby showers.
Jamie Lynn’s former co-star on Zoey 101, Erin Sanders, said earlier this year that the young actress will be a terrific and fun mother.
“She is just a very good-hearted and warm person,” he said.
“We would always hang out on the set and she is a lot of fun, so I think she’s going to be an easygoing, fun mom.”
